Sunday Services

Our "in-person" services is at 10:30am along with Creche, Children's Church and "Connected" Youth Group.  We have an evening communion service on the last Sunday of the month. Five times a year at 4:30pm the "Genarations" (An All Age Interactive Service) service takes place. Our on-line morning service is on You Tube at 10:30 am (pre-recorded): youtube.com/c/ViewfieldBaptistChurch

In the morning services, we have something to suit all ages.  During the first part of the service we have "All-Age" worship where everyone joins together exploring the theme of that particular service.  This is done through such things as songs, prayers and a talk. At the "In-Person" service children and young people will go to the hall after the "All-Age" part of the service (some weeks the young people will stay in the service). On the first Sunday of the month, the S.H.A.P.E.S group (a group for adults with learning difficulties) also meets after the "All-Age" part of the service. There is a creche for under 2s.

We aim to use a wide variety of traditional hymns and modern praise songs. From time to time we have drama, poetry, testimony, group and solo voices - all to enrich worship and glorify God.

We observe Communion most Sundays at one of our services - all who love the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour of whatever Christian tradition are welcome to participate as we meet around His table.

Youth and children's Work

Children's Church takes place very Sunday morning of the year (except when there are All Age Services) and caters for children aged 2-14. After participating in the start of the 10.30am service, we go down to the hall for activities which include games, stories, quizzes, songs, videos, drama etc. all based around the theme or Bible Story for each week. We use the Scripture Union material which covers the core themes and passages of the Old and New Testament in a three year cycle. Each Sunday the primary and pre-school children begin with some activities all together to introduce the theme. Then for the second half of the session we split into four groups: “Acorns” for pre-school children, “Chestnuts” for age 4 - P2 children, “Monkey Puzzles” for P3-5 and “Rooted” P6 to S1 so that the children can explore the story or theme with activities to suit their age.

The crèche runs during every Sunday morning service and caters for children under the age of 3. The group normally starts when the children leave for Children’s Church but if required, can start earlier.

"Connected" is our Sunday morning group for young people in S2-6, which meets at the same time as Children's Church, term time only, for discussion and Bible teaching.

The Viewfield Youth Group meets in "The Garage" on Friday evenings (term time only) from 7-9pm. This is an informal group for friendship, refreshments, games and chat, and is for young people of High School age.

We have a Toddlers Group which meets each week during term time on Thursdays. There are two sessions the morning one from 10am until 11.30am and the afternoon one from 12:45pm to 2:15pm. We meet in the Sanctuary and we always welcome new families. There are many different things to play with including ride-on toys, children’s kitchen, dressing up clothes, a climbing frame with slide, books and craft items. Each week we will have a story time and song time. The cost is £2.00 (per family) each week, which includes a healthy snack and drink for the children, and tea, coffee and biscuits for the adults. All pre-school children are welcome – including babies

Viewfield Baptist Church regards the protection and safeguarding of children, young people and vulnerable adults as a priority.
